Quick Start
Get up and running with Statements in just a few minutes. This guide walks you through the essential steps to start managing your financial transactions.
Step 1: Create Your Organization
After signing in, you'll be prompted to create an organization. This is where all your accounts, transactions, and rules will live.
- Click Create Organization
- Enter your organization name (e.g., "My Business" or "Personal Finance")
- Click Create
Step 2: Add Your First Account
Accounts represent your bank accounts or credit cards.
- Navigate to Accounts in the sidebar
- Click Add Account
- Fill in the details:
- Name: A friendly name (e.g., "HDFC Savings")
- Category: Bank or Credit Card
- Account Number: Optional, for reference
- Click Save
Step 3: Upload a Bank Statement
Now you can upload your first bank statement to import transactions.
- Go to Statements in the sidebar
- Click Upload Statement
- Select your bank statement file (CSV, PDF, or XLSX)
- Choose the account it belongs to
- Click Upload
Statements will automatically:
- Detect the bank format
- Extract all transactions
- Remove duplicates if the statement overlaps with previous uploads
Step 4: Review Your Transactions
After uploading, your transactions appear in the Transactions view.
- Filter by date, account, category, or entity
- Search by description or amount
- Sort by date or amount
- Edit individual transactions to add categories or entities
Step 5: Set Up Categorization Rules
Save time by creating rules that automatically categorize transactions.
- Go to Rules in the sidebar
- Click Create Rule
- Define conditions (e.g., "particulars contains AMAZON")
- Set actions (e.g., "set category to Shopping")
- Save the rule
New transactions matching your rules will be categorized automatically.
